COVID-19 UPDATE

A Message to our Clients Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Alberta Criminal Defence Lawyers understands the challenges and complexities surrounding the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As we continue to monitor the situation, we want to keep our clients and friends informed on our status of operations.

With health services pushed to the limit, and families and businesses suffering from the fallout, the health and safety of our employees, clients, colleagues and all families remain our top priority during this time. Fortunately, our firm has plans to ensure our services are fully operational so we can assist our clients as seamlessly as possible. We are open regular hours, with clients available to contact us via telephone (403-830-1980) or email at [email protected] with any questions or concerns. We also accept new clients and can provide an initial consultation at no charge during this time.

While we are focusing on our clients, we would like to point out that the Alberta Provincial Court has implemented its own protocol concerning all criminal matters during the outbreak.

As of Tuesday, March 17th, individuals do not have to attend court “unless the matter is an in-custody or urgent criminal matter, or an urgent family or child protection matter.” Individuals with a family, civil, criminal court or a Provincial Offences/traffic court appearance do not have to attend.

The Provincial Court also states that “no members of the public will be permitted in courthouses unless they are required for a court matter (parties, witnesses, media). Legal counsel are permitted access to the Courthouse for urgent court-related business ONLY.”

The court is currently monitoring the situation and will update its operational status as time sees fit.

We realize that each client is managing the outbreak the best they can. Our attorneys are prepared to help you during this period, whether for legal advice or to lend an ear. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the pandemic, and we wish everyone remains healthy and safe.

We want to thank all healthcare workers from Alberta Health Services for assisting everyone
during this time. Your courage unites us, and we are proud of the work you are doing. Together, we can overcome this struggle and prosper in the future.
